I was reading a thread previously, where people were suggesting the legal implications of keeping an image of a client's HDD, or even keeping copies of their data for "backup" purposes (e.g. backing up client's data before a n&p so you can restore it later on). Anyway...I was thinking it might make for a good thread to try and come up with a basic "Backup/Data Retention" Disclaimer...

I'll start..feel free to edit/modify/add whatever you think would benefit the disclaimer....I'll update my original post as we reach a general consensus?

Sounds good.. But I wounder if the client would understand what an IMAGE is and would they question the idea of you holding onto the backup for a certain period of time?

I just tell my customers that I image the drive and keep the image on file for 30 days so that if I forget to restore any data I will have that data on hand if they need it. That reminds me my file server is packed and I have a few images to delete. :D
