Is there ANY way to get rid of this pest?

I've reinstalled and run the uninstall, the AVG removal tool, regclean and STILL shows up in D7 as well as during an Avira install it aborts saying AVG is hanging around.

My next option is a search in the registry but I doubt the customer cares to pay for the hours that would take.

Fire up autoruns (its also in D7 somewhere), let it scan for everything and then go down the list looking for anything AVG. Disable all of them and then restart the machine. If the machine boots ok then you can go back and do autoruns and delete them.

I find that 99% of the time if I cannot get rid of something like old SAS crap, AVG, CA or some other nuisance, I can find it with autoruns and its either a quick delete or disable. I dont think Avira is noting just the existance of files but more likely a driver or service.

Thanks for the help gents.

The Spiceworks tip did the trick. I just deleted both entries from the wmi repository, did a reboot which redetected Avast, and no more AVG so I'm assuming it was just obsolete wmi data.

A good tip nonetheless on the autoruns, I definitely keep on file for future crapware like this.

As for Revo, I forgot to mention that I did run the uninstall thru that, but was still left with the old wmi data.
