Has any one seen this error before and have any advice on how to fix it? It's a sony desktop, I tired a few things, and I also tried restoring Windows XP however it still gets the same error.

STOP: oXooooooEA (086B9DDA*,Ox86BF15D0, OxF7912CBC,0x00000001

a little more info does it say unmountable boot volume or something else

and is it ati2dvag.dll or ati2dvag.exe

it sounds like a video card driver but please post the full info.

Does it have an nVidia graphics card?

if so - I have seen this error when the card is going bad.

It might also give you an nv4_disp error.

also - I have seen this once before on a desktop with a bad PS

Try updating the Video drivers if you can

What type of card is this ?

ATI what??

this has been an Issue on Dell machines and updating the drivers has corrected this.

I read that you can get that error message if it's overheating.

I just got that error last night (ati2dvag.dll BSOD) again. The first time i reinstalled the driver, but came back. I did notice my pc was running a little hot. Will try a few things when I get home from work.

its a ATI Radeon X300.

doesn't say if it's a dll or exe. just says the system is in an infinite loop. at first you couldn't even boot into windows normally, it would start to login and then would just log you out right away. safe mode worked, ran chkdsk, then after that safe mode started doing the same thing, did a restore via the sony software, now safe mode is working again.

infinite loop

getting the latest drivers doesn't help, i've gone to ati's website and tried them, however windows won't boot with them, whenever i uninstall them it boots fine. any suggestions?
