I'm looking to buy an asus eee 901 with the new Intel Atom cpu. I've got a Vostro 1000 which I really like, but I prefer the idea of having an extremely portable laptop. Has anyone got an asus eee? How do you find it? Also, does anyone know an online retailer in the UK that has the 901 model in stock? :p

I personally ordered an MSI Wind. Same Atom processor, a little bigger screen - 10". Any way, http://forum.eeeuser.com/index.php it's an Eee PC user forum. You should be able to find where it will be available in your neck of the woods. I believe that the release date for the 901 is July 8th - not sure if it is a global release or not though.

asus eeepc

I have the eeepc 4g I love it and i take it on jobs with me. The range of the wireless signal it can pick up is impressive. I carry a 160 gig portable hd and its fantastic. If the 901 even comes closes to the eeepc in quality I'm sure you will love it .

I have the EEE 4g also and it's great. Easily hackable and portable. I also bought a slim DVD burner (with lightscribe) but so far I haven't used it, as I use a flash drive mostly (I was already carrying an external HDD, so the 4GB isn't a problem). So far I have used it to program a router, download drivers, and backup data. I plan to use it for invoices and customer databases in the future. It can get fairly hot, but compared to bigger laptops, I thought it would have run a lot hotter. It's no toughbook, but its not delicate either. I'm still not used to the keyboard size, so I may end up bringing a roll up full size. Even though I hate all laptop touchpads, this one is pretty good. I would have traded the webcam and speakers for a bigger screen, but I'll live. I put a gig in there (bought 2x1gig sticks but it only has one slot, d'oh!) and it boots in less than 15 seconds. I'll probably end up putting XP Home on there eventually, but for now it gets the job done. I think you'll find it to be a great addition to your toolkit. Can't help with the UK stuff sorry.
