No good deed goes unpunished. Thought it would be a good idea to save a 6th gen i5 AiO with 8GB RAM and SSD from a landfill. Bought a "new" motherboard for it and installed it. After a great amount of difficulty getting it to boot from external devices I'm backing up the customer's old data (just in case). Now I notice the screen is a little messed up. Notice the gray-ish blemish on the right side:
THIS IS NOT THE MOTHERBOARDS FAULT? I can't think of the connection. Most likely a flaw with the LCD's backlight or the inverter. Don't think that's related to the motherboard. Agreed?
I've been fooling with the machine on and off since last night. Didn't even notice it until I had that mostly white display going. In the BIOS and in the Windows logon screen prior to that and didn't see it.
Second, I don't think it's really fixable short of replacing the display. I'll open it up again and look for any obvious things, but I'm not optimistic. Maybe just sell the machine at a discount with the flawed backlighting?
