Are there Vista SP2 CD's out there, or did MicroSoft stop selling Vista before it got to service pack 2? I've been searching ebay for Vista SP2 CD's for my collection because it takes MANY hours to upgrade a machine from SP1 to SP2. I need SP2 CD's for reinstalls.

Ebay is the last place I would order a CD from!

With the difficulty some have at finding the correct CD/DVD's, I may just set up a server to host ISO files and charge a small fee per download.

I think MS would have a field day with that one.

A quick search of btjunkie.org turned out many options for SP2.

For letting people download clean ISO's with no serial?

I won't be even charging for the ISO's, just a small fee to help for the private server and maintenance costs.

Even with no serials MS would shut you down, unless you didn't advertise. Maybe you could fly under there radar. For safety though I would not charge anything. If you got busted you could say that you where providing a service for other techs. You might get away with it. However, if you pull a profit they will come down on you for sure. The problem is MS makes money off of services like this for techs.

I have had great luck just using torrents. Everything you need is available on line, sometimes it requires hunting but it can be found.

Has anyone actually successfully slipstreamed to SP2 with vLite???? Last time I tried, it only worked going from no SP to SP1 -- but not SP2. Maybe they've updated vLite. ??

I found the answer here http://www.msfn.org/board/must-read-slipstreaming-into-windows-vista-t134783.html
vLite does not slipstream SP2. Instead there is some sort of reverse integration method.

MSFN.org is a great resource..

Just saw your posts at: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/230249-sliptream-vista-sp2.html

Did just read the following..

http://www.wincert.net/forum/index....o-integrate-vista-sp2beta-into-vista-sp1-dvd/

Look at the third + post from bjfrog..

Where he talks about VMWare, you should be able to use VirtualBox to do the same thing.. Even one of the comments says that this is hard. With what I am reading into that, there are a lot of steps.

Well, if you can get your company to pony up for a MSDN Subscription..

Reverse Integration Guide - it was posted for SP1, SP2 should be similar..

You can download SP2/2008 from here -

kdyer, I will try that long method if Anne~'s method doesn't work.

I am hoping that Anne~'s method works: install Vista from Vista CD w/ SP1, then run install SP2 from CD. Hope there's no updates after that. Again, my whole purpose is to bypass the 12 hours of Vista updating that it takes when doing the "old fashion" way doing simple Windows updates. Inserting a 2nd DVD seems simple enough if that's all it takes. I will test Anne~'s method next time I do a Vista reinstall and report back.

Does a Vista DVD analyze the hardware on your computer and install specific hardware drivers accordingly? Or does a Vista DVD install the same generic drivers on every computer?
I'm thinking about just saving an image of the final install once upgraded to SP2, but I don't know if it will work on ANY machine. Anyone know?
