I was so excited being given a 2 TB Apple Time Capsule
I turned it on and a message came up asking if I wanted to connect I said no since I did not know the password. should have paid more attention.
I decided to do a factory reset by pressing in the little button then plugging in the power
it was green before now it's flashing yellow and is not visible on my WIFI, nor can I see it in Airport Utility for Windows.
I read later that you can only do this with the latest firmware.
Now it seems its bricked
I hate Apple even more than before if that's possible

well don't connect with WiFi (although it should still show some Airport_xyz) network.

connect with cable and use airport utility 5.6.1 for Windows. Make sure you have bonjour installed.

They don't brick easily, despite not showing up right away. Don't be afraid to reset it with conviction.

Thank's using the cable fixed the problem.

old 2011 model, it does have 2 TB HD handy for backups but very slow.
I got it set up using Double Nat.
These used to cost a fortune I often see them for $5 at the market

I don't even bother with that stuff, including Airport, anymore. Apple stopped supporting them years ago. And when they were they didn't do a very good job. Hard to understand because both, Airport and TC, were and still are important technologies.

I agree, have many clients with multiple MacBooks of various kinds in their house - Time Capsule with Time Machine was a relatively seamless wireless backup solution for them. I am gonna guess Apple didn't want to have to deal with all the support issues inherent in selling networking products, and figured they would switch those folks to cloud backup. But Time Machine is such a good backup program, it's one of the few real advantages to the Mac ecosystem that I can see, and it's not a cloud based system.

Ask and ye shall receive. Well, you didn't really ask but here it is anyways. Just make note that the machine needs local storage, onboard or attached, to do this.
