I have done some work for L3 communications (they do a lot of Fed and state gov work) and the location I dealt with used all DC powered equipment. They all shared a common ground and had some kind of fused breaker panel that had to be disconnected before working on a specific circuit or machine. This was a little overwhelming for me at first and once I unhooked a server w/o pulling the fuse and when I reconnected it I saw a little spark (nothing that was worrysome, but it would have been better not to have done it).
Does anyone else have experience with these? Can you give any tips or have any good advice when dealing with them.
Oh, BTW, if you ever work for L3 make sure you have a wrist grounding strap. That is something that I rarely see discussed here. I usually ground myself before pulling the cover of the machines and then I'm sitting in front of it not building up static but I still really should have a grounding strap.
