Hey all, have a client that has the following situation:

They are attempting to use Hamachi for their sales rep to use Quickbooks via remote to create estimates and such. He needs updated access to perform his job. Well I can get quickbooks to open the company file over the company network, and it’s set to host multiple users. But when client takes 2 laptops out of the building to another location, they can not open the company file.

They have no problems opening other files through the VPN, I can see them on the network (hamachi network) I can point the machines to the locations, but when they open the file, the service locks up or freezes.

Have had the client disable their security to test, and still no change.

Try mapping a network drive over the hamachi connection, that might work.

Having said that, I'd HIGHLY suggest avoiding using Quickbooks over Hamachi. There's a pretty good chance it'll cause problems in the data file.
If you can swing it, I'd set up some sort of remote desktop to a system that's in the building, then have them use quickbooks from that. That way the latency only affects what's on screen and not the data file directly.

Don't do it.

I have been down this road. If you get it to work more then 5 minutes you are going to get a corrupted database. Either switch to Quickbooks online or go buy a POS machine for $100 put Quickbooks and VNC on that.
