Please forgive me if this is an issue that has come up before on this forum. I am a newbie here and wish to try an participate. I did several searches for this issue and didn't seem to find a quick resolution. I thought I would share the problem and fix that I found.
Problem:
User had been using Amazon to download MP3's into WMP via the Amazon MP3 Downlaod application. They started to run into a problem of MP3's not showing up in WMP after it said they were downloaded. After running Malware Bytes (which found a few issues) and CCleaner WMP starting getting a 'WMP encountered an error and needs to shutdown' every time I tried to start WMP. Tried uninstalling, upgrading, reinstalling WMP and the registry you name it - still the same error. It seems the malware had corrupted WMP.
Fix:
And I am plobably looking pretty silly, but the fix was simple. I used Dial-A-Fix's Registraion Center section to restore all the missing DLL's and OLE's and it solved the WMP issue of not being able to start. All that was left was having to uninstall and reinstall Amazon's MP3 downloader and having the customer call Amazon and reset their lost MP3 downloads. They were then able to redownload all the MP3's they had lost due to this issue.
Like I said, I am a newbie so be gentle. I just thought I would post my exact problem and fix if anyone else came across this problem. Seems like Dial-A-Fix is great for repairing lost/corrupted DLL/OLE's.
