1903 doesn't like VMware workstation 14

Don't know why, (possibly a defect in my character or some form of masochism), I've been battling to get 1903 installed in my work machine.

Multiple attempts,....unplugged all and sundry only to get that sodden "unable to upgrade" notification thingy.

Then, methinks, I'll try decrypting my hard drive (currently using eset total disk encryption) and give it one last chance.

Upgrade proceeds and then I get an incompatible warning concerning VMware workstation, and an upgrade is recommended.

Hello, thinks I.

Uninstalls VMware, hit refresh, and the upgrade to 1903 succeeds.

It looks like my disk encryption "hid" this culprit.

Time for a beer.
Regards.

........ I don't wear cloggs, but i do clip, clippity clop on the stairs some times.

Not a pretty sight, and don't step in it.

Ok, its a fetish, but I've heard of worse (or better) depending on your point of view.

Incidentally, I managed to reinstall workstation 14 afterwards, but I had to use a config.sys tweak, to get the thing to run with my cpu.

Ok, I'll bite. Having only a passing familiarity with vmware, I'm undoubtedly showing my ignorance......but.......config.sys? Is your virtual machine Windows 3.1? No wonder you're having trouble loading 1903, you've got to get with the times, man! :D

What can I say ?
I'm a closet hippy :)

Typo. Should have said config.ini (lives in C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Workstation directory) where I added "monitor.allowLegacyCPU = "true""

Now I just need to configure emm386.sys

As for the update, I have it ready to install.
See attached,.......... and its actually mine.

"Get with the times ?"
No way Hose A
