Long story short, client has a really old software called Omega Supercharts used for TA Stock analysis. This software was very expensive and the company behind it has dissolved long ago. We have no "installation material" or any description about how the software should be installed and configured but he has it up and running on an old XP system which are having graphic card problems and will be replaced.
So I figured that the best way would be to virtualize his old machine and I got it running in Windows virtual PC and when the software started up I got some strange error message regarding calculations and the word CPU was in it, the program asked me to run some kind of built-in tool and after that it was up and running. The problem is that it hogs the CPU and takes 100% from the virtual PC.
In short:
Psysical laptop with XP installed > Software runs great
Windows 7 64-bit > Windows virtual machine > virtualized XP laptop > Software is super slow and the CPU usage is 100%
The actual software is 16-bits and I suppose there is some problem with the "virtual PC" CPU? Maybe some feature that needs to be either enabled or disabled? Im thinking about trying to run it in virtualbox which has more hardware options then windows virtual pc.
