    Disk image format converter

I need to convert a .BIN image produced with RapidSpar to either .VHD .VHDX .CIB .CIBX format so I can use my go-to software (Casper from Future Systems) to restore to another drive. Unless there is some better option out there.

    Cant read SSD

99 times out of 100, it is faster to clone the drive, working around the bad sectors with a program like ddrescue, or, better yet, a RapidSpar or R-Studio with a USB stabilizer. Once you have it cloned, the file system recovery is done quickly. In short - lazy way usually takes days or weeks...

plus with a ssd it shouldn't take that long to image

    Assessing flaky HDDs

Trying it now to see if it see the problems on this drive. I now know the drive has problems as RapidSpar skipped some sectors later extracted when cloning. CrystalDiskInfo and DiskGenius passed the drive though the system was abnormally slow and some Windows tools couldn't even launch.

    Assessing flaky HDDs

It's more about confirming whether the drive needs to be replaced. I favour Casper for drives in reasonable conditions. When really bad I'd go for my RapidSpar imager.

    Best current Partition Recovery software?

...in Windows, you might find that R-Studio's latest imaging features are better than ddrescue or hddsuperclone. I am not sure if they work with the demo version of the program, but can confirm that they are even better when used with a DeepSpart USB Stabilizer (5G or 10G) or a RapidSpar unit.

Acelab (data recovery hardware) wants to sell you something

...are struggling or closing. I think, and I think @lcoughey may agree, you'd be better of at this point, in investing in something like RapidSpar + R-Studio, or USB Stabilizer + R-Studio, or even dedicate a PC to run OpenSuperClone + R-Studio or UFS or DMDE (OSC + DMDE = $100 + cost of modest...

[REQUEST] Flash drive recovery possible at all with software

HDD Superclone vs deepspar - Thoughts?

...when recovering drives that are clicking - or recovering from one platter or head at a time in the case of bad media, etc. I trialed it (RapidSpar) 6 or 7 years ago with a bunch of other Nibblers... they were sending a trial kit around for a while. While it was very nice, and did a very...

Cloning small SSD to larger SSD software recommendations?

...machine and use Disk Management to resize the partition to the full size. Perform a chkdsk /f and insert into client's machine. It's not the fastest - but it's the most perfect and stable (in our desired outcomes) and reliable I have found next to using dedicated hardware (RapidSpar, etc.).

[REQUEST] Flash drive recovery possible at all with software

...of course. It's very possible to recover data from a drive with bad sectors using data recovery software. If you combine it with a RapidSpar your chances of a successful recovery are even better. I haven't had the same luck when it comes to SSDs with worn out cells. Usually all you get is...

Cloning small SSD to larger SSD software recommendations?

...vice versa) drives. After the bit-to-bit machine clone we resize the data partition. We only mess with software cloning these days when we have a customer who wants to move to a smaller drive. We do have a rapidspar for drives with more serious issues but for the most part, it doesn't get...

Yet another Data Recovery tools question

Yes, for PC3000 it's in that range. However Rapidspar starter kit is in the $2K range. It would take quite a few jobs to pay off PC3000 but Rapidspar seems doable. Kerry

Yet another Data Recovery tools question

And did you clone drives before even recovering files using ReclaiMe? RapidSpar and PC3000 are in different leagues. It's like telling you're considering buying a car and then ask if you should go for a little Peugeot (or whatever) or a Jaguar. If you did software recoveries so far, next...

    rapidspar firmware fix

We had a ddi4 which died about a year ago. We debated on replacing it with another or a rapidspar. We ended up going with the rapidspar because it can do some firmware fixes. It seems buggy and I suspect it is more likely to fail, I was regretting not going with the ddi4 again. I have wondered...

Yet another Data Recovery tools question

I've been doing some basic data recovery using Reclaime with some success. I'm thinking of upping my game and getting something like the Rapidspar or PC3000. My DR business isn't strong enough to technically justify PC3000 and even if it did I don't know where to get the proper education to...

Shameless plug - you definitely are not outsourcing to Luke. We send him a couple drives a year and it’s affordable and they have always been great to work with and answer questions if it’s something they can’t do.

Cloning small SSD to larger SSD software recommendations?

This is what we use...the "drive goblins"...as they're often called...those Startech drive dupes. And we have some other brand ones for the M.2 drives. Just so much faster and easier....plug drives in, power up, push a button a couple of times, walk away...it'll copy across faster than...

    Seagate Data Recovery

...Metadata is required for Windows to read the data. Did you try to read the drive from a Linux boot up? One of the many benefits of a Rapidspar with data acquisition is it can access the data even when the metadata is damaged. It could also be a firmware issue but if the data is important...

At what point do you give up on ddrescue

...will only get worse as you proceed. Depending on the model and the underlying issues, it might be something that could be handled by RapidSpar. I'd say that you should confirm with your client that the data is not worth sending off to a pro for possibly a few hundred bucks before you push...
