This supposedly insignificant problem affects many more people than you can imagine. My HP machine that I'm typing this on now had to have XP SP2 reloaded onto it when SP3 caused the infinite reboot glitch. I am having other problems that professionals have told me would most likely be fixed by SP3, but I can't install it. As the above poster said, its not a big problem unless its your machine that has the problem.

All I know it this problem has completely disabled my daughter's HP laptop with AMD. Must be great for these companies to create these problems and walk away from the responsibility. Whether it's hundreds or hundreds of thousands, it is a real problem when YOUR computer is affected and YOU have to pay to fix it.

Considering that SP3 has already been installed on several million machines without a problem, this issue is not as big a deal as folks are making out. In reality it has only actually occurred on a couple of hundred machines sense the final release of SP3.

The issue only on shows up on machines that have had XP installed using improperly configured Install Disk images at the manufacturer, or on machines where SP3 was installed was installed over a one of the previous SP3 release candidates.

Let’s act like professionals and stop feeding the rumor mills created by irresponsible unknowing bloggers on this subject.
