The third service pack of Windows XP will be released on April 29 according to Neowin.net.
Microsoft will not download the service pack automatically to users computer until June 10. The report at Neowin said that Microsoft planned this delay because it “…should give system administrators an ample amount of time to prepare for the upgrade or simply come up with an excuse for when things go awry.” Administrators can download a software called Windows Service Pack Blocker Tool Kit to make sure that the Service Pack will not be installed until they are ready.
As usual, Microsoft has not said a word whether the news about the release Windows SP3 is accurate.

System administrators don’t care about new tools that Vista may include. Such tools are often available through third parties.
More prevalent complaints for the new operating system are:
1) the interface is not only foreign, it is often illogical (the program’s menu, for example). It is overly-focused on asthetics (too similar to the Mac interface) when people just want to be able to do their work. The same complaint applies for Office 2007. With Vista, the benefits associated with improved funtionality / added features are underminded for this reason. Although converging somewhat, Microsoft needs to better understand that consumer markets for MACs and PCs, at least in regards to interface expectations, are still very different from each other.
2) You cannot compare the XP to Vista transition to the Win2000 to XP transition. The life of XP has been cut considerably shorter than 2000. For this and for other reasons, comparing the two transitions is to compare apples with oranges.
3) it will still be quite sometime before most propritary software companys are able to establish compatibility with Vista. To cut support on XP this early is to deprive those companies of a reasonable opportunity to achieve Vista compatibility.
