Electronista.com reports that Microsoft will release a Service Pack version 2c because of a shortage of product keys for Windows XP Professional operating system.

This will be made mandatory for computer makers by September because users may not be able to install XP as soon as this fall according to Microsoft.

The Home, Media Center, Tablet, and 64-bit Professional versions of Windows XP are not affected by this problem since they have a separate key range and they will be removed from the market earlier.

According to the article, one of the reasons for this problem is about the long-delayed release of Windows Vista.
