There have been limited attacks on Windows XP operating systems according to Microsoft. The attacks exploit a security hole in the OS’ copy protection program. They noted that Windows Vista users are safe from this flaw.

If the computer of the user was successfully attacked, the attacker can take full control of the user’s computer. PC World mentions that such a success will be hard to accomplish compared to other bugs.

A patch has been released by Macrovision, the company who designed the copy prevention software, but Microsoft is currently testing the patch before they release it via the automatic update feature in Windows.
