A news has been released by C|Net that a computer who is running Windows XP with just the first service pack applied to it can be hacked in six minutes.
The computer was not running a firewall, nor an anti-spyware or anti-virus program. A security expert said that he or she can download a password file in eleven minutes under this circumstance.
“If you were in (a cafe with Wi-Fi access), your coffee wouldn’t even have cooled down yet,” said a deputy director.
Nick McGrath of Microsoft said this is not the case for Vista due to operating system components.

Alright, taking all bets… A shiny Canadian dollar coin for whoever can do it in 5 min. 30 secs? lol
A few years ago when MSBlaster was on its rampage. I had this happen to me. I did a OS restore on a clients Dell computer. The XP version on the restore CD’s was SP1 and therefor the firewall is turned off by default. I hopped online to get the Windows Updates to protect the computer. In the few minutes it took to reach the Windows Update site the computer was infected. Bugger..
Remember techies, ALWAYS turn on the firewall before going online otherwise you’ll end up like me
