BBC has posted an article about Windows Touch which is a built-in feature in Windows 7. It is a “first class way to interact with your PC alongside mouse and keyboard,” said Microsoft.
Apple’s Snow Leopard will also have this feature according to the article.
Dell’s Latitude XT and HP’s TouchSmart computers are some of the multi-touch machines that are already available on the market.
Tap, double tap, zoom, flick, and rotate are some of the controls that Windows 7 will be capable of.

Perhaps for tablet laptops this is cool. But honestly I don’t think I would reach over my desk to scroll up or down or zoom in to a picture. I would have to position my screen to where I’m looking at it like a book in order to enjoy that, but then I couldn’t use my keyboard. I wish someone would come out with an OS that is Less “Pimp My Ride” and more “Overhaulin”
(i.e. Popcorn machine in center console, bubble blower in tailpipe.) too much baggage… I tried the Touchsmart at a Sam’s club and while it was a neat to play chess that way, I really didn’t see any other use for that technology besides maybe in a POS system or for presentations. my two cents anyway.
