Anti-virus developer, Symantec, has released a statement about a flaw on the Mac OS X operating system. This only affects users who have turned on the Windows Sharing feature on a Mac.
The specific software which are involve in this case are Samba versions 3.0.24 and its previous versions. The newest version, 3.0.25 is not affected so users should update their Samba software to remain safe. If users cannot update to the newest version, Symantec recommends that they should disable Samba completely.
The flaw is a Request Multiple Heap-Based Buffer Overflow. The last time the software was updated by Apple was during the release of their security update 2005-003.
