Microsoft will release the Windows Live software suite which contains applications such as Windows Live Mail and Windows Live Messenger 8.5 next week according to New York Times.

The Times thinks that this is a Netscape-level event which is referring to the event in 1995 when Microsoft released their Internet Explorer and Netscape lost its users since they switched to Microsoft’s internet browser. John Markoff of NYT said, “The empire is preparing to strike back — again.”

The other applications are Windows Live Photo Gallery and Windows Live OneCare Family Safety.

Microsoft made the announcement about this installer three months ago.
