The release-to-manufacturing version of Windows 7 has been cracked according to various tech sites.
Crackers obtained a copy of the disc that contain Windows 7 Ultimate OEM version from Lenovo. Then, they were able to extract the system-locked pre-installation product key and the OEM certificate.
After getting those information, they tweaked the values found in the Software Licensing Description Table.
This is not just exclusive to the Lenovo brand. Dell, HP, and MSI are the other brands that can be cracked as well.

I don’t know about you, but I think this is Microsoft’s fault for being oblivious to the realities of the world. Correct me if I’m wrong.
First of all, if you super hype an OS, then RTM it but only make it available to enthusiasts 2-3 months later, you WILL get a leak. Worse, that leak WILL get cracked. And you’ve just lost that market.
But what is that market? I’ve always wondered… most people get windows with a new computer. That means a legit copy of windows. Businesses and schools buy legit licenses, so that’s not it either. That leaves custom built computers and people that have computers strong enough for the new windows.
Now, the latter. If the upgrade price for windows was 50$, 90+ percent of those people would buy it and not bother with cracks. You have a legit serial, for 50$ you get the new one? Deal.
For over 100$? That has to stop at least half maybe more of buying a legit copy. They will either stick with their current windows or pirate the new one.
As for custom builders and tech-savvy users… they are the ones most likely to pirate. How do you solve this? Simple. The MINUTE you RTM windows, you make it available for download legit on MS website. Charge 50$ for the upgrade version. Again I bet you 90+ percent of these users will just buy it.
Why would tech-savvy users wait til october to get something they can have NOW? Of course they will pirate! And once you bothered getting the pirate copy, why the hell would you buy a legit copy with the activation hassle and the reinstall down the road?
I think the MS approach is all wrong. What do you think?
I think that Windows 7 will bomb because it’s basically just Vista-patched. Forget Windows and it’s inherent flawed design and over-priced editions that will soon enough reveal even more flaws. Go buy a Mac of run Linux.
Amen to that Ron! basically it is just Vista-patched
I don’t know. I installed Windows 7 on my tablet. It only has a gig of memory and a Pentium D processor. WIn7 installed nicely and is as responsive as WinXP. I was shocked. The only thing I didn’t like was that it wasn’t able to auto configure my internal wifi card. I stuck in a pcmcia card and it auto configured it like Linux and moved right along. I have been testing it and so far I think its going to be a decent upgrade for most people. I am still playing with it right now, but in a week or so, I will start to virus, and compromise it so as it hits the masses I’ll have clinical experience fixing it.
You guys are Ruhtarded. Windows 7 is an amazing overhaul of the Vista code base. The driver subsystem structure has stayed the same with major performance tweaking so they wouldnt have the driver nightmare of XP to Vista.
Other than that, Windows7 is completely new, I’ve run it as my main OS for 7 months and I’m 100% hooked, its an amazing OS, it’s what Vista should have been, and a whole lot more. try it. It’s a hell of a lot better than Snow Leopard, that’s for damn sure.
