Windows 7 Pricing in UK

Various sites have reported that the Windows 7 operating systems would cost much less for UK customers.

The Home Premium full edition costs £64.98 at Amazon’s UK site while the US site of Amazon lists it as $199 which is approximately £120.00.

Microsoft’s UK online store also lists that edition for a similar price.

This pricing should be treated as “indefinite” according to an amazon.co.uk spokesperson. This suggests that Microsoft would not increase the price in the future. The company has not yet responded officially about the pricing.

This will be the first time I’ve been working in IT that the $/£ rate hasn’t been 1:1. I.e when it was nearly $2 to the £1 we were paying pretty much double US rates. To be quite honest, we’ve been ripped by software companies/Apple for so long that it’s about time we had a break.
