Intel software developer Doug Holland notes in company blog that Windows 7 beta is incredibly stable. “I have now been using the Windows Server 2008 R2 beta and Windows 7 beta builds for some time and have found them to be incredibly stable.”
He is now using it as his main operating system on his laptops and desktops. He added that he would also use it as the main OS on his corporate notebook if his IT department gives him permission to do so.
Intel CEO Paul Otellini stated in 2007 that his company did not plan to upgrade to Vista.

I 100% agree with the stability in Windows 7. I have already ran the beta and have been impressed. We even have it on demo in our shop and everyone that has played with it loves it!
It seems to already be more stable than Vista and its just now in beta. I think that says something, since Vista is already up to SP2.
I wonder what all the people who argued with me that Vista was 100% stable will say about this?
I’ve been impressed with the stability of Windows 7 since I first tried the build released at PDC. It’s not to surprising considering it’s a true 6.1 build. It’s based on the Vista kernel and has the same driver model so peripherals and software that run on Vista should be okay on 7. Vista has been very stable for many people I’ve been using it since May 2007 and I’ve had zero problems. Windows 7 is supposed to be able to run on netbooks, it should HP has been shipping their 2133 running an Via processor with Vista for a year and after using one for a week I found it to be acceptable but certainly not as responsive as an Atom based netbook running XP.
I think some people don’t understand that service packs have traditionally been roll-ups of updates. XP SP2 changed all that because of horrible security issues in xp prior to SP2. Vista SP1 and 2 are primarily a fast way to update your builds, with the file transfer issue in Vista being addressed in SP1.
It’s funny how many people I talk to who have recently bought computers running Vista and comment that they “really like it, or why do people say it’s so bad?” Most people like Vista, at least those who’ve actually used it, not all, but most that I’ve dealt with.
