Microsoft has announced that their operating systems Windows XP Home and Media Center Editions will be supported until 2009. That means that it now has five years of mainstream support plus five more years for extended support. It will match the length of time for support on the Pro version of Windows XP.
This is a big issue since it will give XP users more time to decide on when is the right time for them to upgrade to the new Microsoft Vista operating system.
