I agree that the feeling and real world tests are more important. Case in point was the Windows 7 vs Vista vs XP test I seen recently. In these tests Windows 7 blew Vista out of the water in every single test, This was expected. Windows 7 also was much faster than XP, this to was also expected. Then I seen that they had Vista being faster than XP. Vista has never been nor will It ever be anywhere close to as faster as XP period. I had to raise the bright red "bullshit" flag on that one. They had a good test and then had to completely discredit themselves. All tests aside I think Windows 7 is what Vista should have been and its a worthy upgrade to XP. If seven had come out instead of Vista I would have never purchased a Mac, so I guess I'm glad it worked out the way it did. I’d also have to say I’m not one for benchmarks either. They are not the point. It is the feeling that is important and real world tests. A. Installation takes only 15 minutes! That, to me is amazing. Even when I was installing win95 on clients machines, it took more than that! B. File copying/moving/deleting is still random as sh*t. Sometimes, deleting one file takes forever. Moving thousands of files is a pain as well. Whereas a utility like teracopy has no such problem. File management should be a top priority in OS design. Very disapointing. C. Startup is faster. Even with all apps installed, it still feels much faster to boot. D. Start menu still not impressive in terms of speed. When you start having a lot of documents, search is slow, even though indexing should mean its not. Overall: an improvement, but still some key areas where speed need be improved.
