The first service pack for Windows Vista will be released in early 2008 according to Microsoft.

For Windows XP users, they can expect to receive the third and last service pack in the first half of 2008.

“As far as service packs go. This is middle of the road — not too risky and relatively uneventful,” said Stephen Kelynhans of Gartner Inc. about the Windows Vista Service Pack.

The beta version will be shipped to a maximum of 15,000 users next month. This service pack will provide better performance and it will fix some reliability problems according to a senior product manager for this OS.
