PC World has released an article that the Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) flaw that exists in Windows operating systems may also be present for Mac OS X and Linux operating systems.
The URI technology is used for launching programs in web browsers.
A security researcher at Ernst & Young Global Ltd said that a poorly designed URI protocol registration may allow an attacker to see and access data and applications which he or she does not have permission to.
“There is absolutely a chance that similar issues could exist on those platforms,” said Thomas Kristensen of Secunia about the Linux and Mac OS X platforms.
