There are nofollow tags on comments such as this one, however, if you are part of the TOP Commentators, they are followed.

Adding a Top Commentators box to a blog is very useful if you want to get more comments. The Top Commentators box stimulates the reader to comment and to improve their top commentators position, or to get there if the reader is not list.
you can make dofollow on comment too and to avoid spam, you just use comment moderation.
Well congrats, this page is now result #4 on google for “top commentators” so I think you should be getting a lot of traffic from people interested in commenting on blogs. Looks like your traffic strategy worked!
