Four updates are scheduled to be released during the Patch Tuesday of this month according to The Register. This batch will include fixes for Windows Media Player, Media Encoder, Office, and for various Windows operating systems including Vista.
The malicious software removal tool will also be updated. The fix for Media Player was supposed to be released last month but there were last minute quality issues.
Microsoft will post more details about these patches when they released it on Tuesday, Septermber 9. This batch is much smaller than last month’s updates since there were 11 updates that were released last month.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that we have run the patches through our AOK Application Compatibility Lab to assess the impact these patches will have on applications. We found that this months patches were relatively light.
The updates MS08-055 and MS08-053 relate to Windows Media player which has a minimal impact on the Operating system and few applications have a direct dependency on Windows Media player.
More importantly, MS08-052 includes an update to a core element of the operating system (GDIPLUS.DLL). This file is part of the graphics library for Window XP. Several applications we ran through AOK can load a version of this file from their source media/download process when they are installed and so there is a danger that if this happens the installation will result in an out of date version of this file being loaded and overwriting the version in the patch update this month.
