The Offline Update recommendation was much much later in the year. Autopatcher got shut down by Microsoft and Offline Update became the alternative/replacement.

On Tuesday, November 27th, 2007 at 9:33 pm, your site recommended "Offline Update" and here you're recommending "Autopatch".

What gives? Which is better?

Hmm, while i recommend this method to install patches on a pre existing install. The best way to integrate all the latest patches and extra addons to your xp install disk is via RyanVM's Update pack, which can be found here: http://www.ryanvm.net/msfn/ ; using the update pack and the RVM Integrator, you can integrate all the patches very easily into your unattended install disk without having to worry about lengthy post install processes !
