A new breed of ransomware has surfaced according to an article at Arstechnica. Security companies PandaLabs and Kaspersky Lab has identified trojans Sinowal.FY and Gpcode.ai.
These viruses place a readme file where a user can find it if his or her machine become affected.
The file contains a threat that the attackers has encrypted the user’s files and that they are asking for $300. The deadline in the note is July 15.
According to PandaLabs, these are empty threats. A Kaspersky Lab analyst said it has a shelf life between the dates of July 10 and July 15.
