A new vulnerability on Apple’s multi-media player, QuickTime, has been reported by Information Week.
“A remote vulnerability exists in the QuickTime player for Windows XP and Vista (latest service packs). The vulnerability was successfully tested in Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista SP1 environments,” said Petko Petkov who is a founder of a computer security consultancy.
He has not mentioned whether he will release the details of the attack publicly after Apple patches or has had a chance to patch this particular vulnerability.
A video is available on GNU Citizen’s website that demonstrates the attack.

Some how I knew Quick time was not good for windows… I have never ever put it on a Windows machine and refuse to even use it on my own and even when I see it on a Customers machine I tend to wonder why they need it or have it installed?..
But I will say I feel sorry for the I Pod owners out there, Hence my g/f is a I Pod owner and runs a Windows (Vista ) machine and when a user Installs I Tunes to my knowledge the end user must install Quick Time and there is not really a way to avoid it . I have better warn her of this. Thanks
