The Register has reported that a Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End Trojan is spreading on the internet.
The Trojan arrives as a junk mail and it entices users to download trailers of the new Walt Disney film. When users fall for the trick, they will receive a Trojan file called Pirabbean-A.
Those who have dial-up connections will be switched onto a premium-rate number according to the article.
The Trojan also tries to disable anti-virus software that may exists in a user’s PC.
This technique has been used previously on such films as Harry Potter, Kill Bill, and Star Wars movies.
An addition of two favorite URLs will also be stored in Internet Explorer if a user’s PC become infected.
