It is no longer the case that widely used PHP applications would run poorly on Windows Server when it comes to the newest Server operating system of Microsoft according to a recent post at Slashdot.
The brief article notes that 75% to 80% of PHP users develop their software on Windows workstations and this is great news for them.
Microsoft certified the Zend Core form of PHP as ready to run ‘with performance and stability’ on their latest Server OS. This statement is according to Andi Gutmans who is the co-founder and CTO of Zend.

It’s good news in the sense that PHP has reached a size that has M$’s attention. However I don’t plan on running my sites off of a windows server anytime soon.
