The “Conficker.c” worm is once again trying to infect numerous computers. “We’ve seen a huge increase in the number of [malware] samples, as well as infections,” said Ryan Sherstobitoff of Panda Security.
Panda has increase its warning status to “orange” for this particular worm which means that it is “an important danger.”
Microsoft issued a fix on October 23 which is an “out of cycle” patch.
Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Server 2003, and Server 2008 users who have not applied the patch can be infected. The worm downloads a new version of itself once it is on a system.
