An announcement has been released on Microsoft’s program that can stream windows media on Mac computers. The program is called Silverlight and it an alternative for Adobe’s Flash player.
Silverlight is available in beta form for two popular browsers on the Mac which are Mozilla’s Firefox and Apple’s Safari.
One of its features is that it can stream up to 720p in HD video format.
Currently, the primary Windows Media solution for Macs is a plugin called Flip4Mac. Microsoft distributes this plugin too.
This news means that Microsoft is once again, officially offering support for Macs in this area.
On the downside, Macs with Power PC processors will not be supported in future versions of Silverlight.
