Microsoft will make the release candidate for Windows 7 available for everyone on next Tuesday, May 5th. Microsoft will be giving it away for one year. It will not expire till June 1st 2010. Microsoft says the real version will be available toward the end of this year and could ship as early as October. I think this pretty much means Microsoft is going to finally pony up and give us the OS we have been waiting for. Microsoft seems confident enough that everyone will be willing to pay for it after using it a whole year for free. Keep those fingers crossed! Meanwhile we can play with it for a year to see if we like it.

It will be available to download at least through June 30, 2009, with no limits on the number of downloads or product keys.
After Windows Vista Microsoft should just give away Windows 7 to anyone to laid down cash for Vista or got a new machine that came with it.
They know they screwed people, I think this is their way of making up for it.
The mentioned Microsoft Windows 7 R.C. free downloads only seem to be available to Microsoft Tech Partners – signing up takes several hundred dollers. Did I miss something?
You do not need to sign up for the Microsoft tech net, I went to the MSDN website to download. After clicking on the link to download, I logged in with my Hotmail account info. I was able to download it right away. Pretty fast downloads too, it maxed out my bandwidth which is only 7.2 Mbs,
Very interesting move by Microsoft surely. Is it possible they are starting to think ahead a little bit ? It was a real time for such a step.
Wow, looks like Microsoft is being very friendly with the windows 7 deal =D hehe Good to see that in my opinion
