Windows XP Service Pack 2 users who have the Automatic Update feature switched on will soon have their Internet Explorer 6 turn into Internet Explorer 7 as users systems get the latest updates off the Microsoft site.

Currently, the Internet Explorer 7 rollout though auto updates will continue though to January because Microsoft is trying to roll it out slowly so that the process is managable for IT Administrators. The other reason is so that the Microsoft tech support doesnt get overwhelmed with questions about the new browser.

For now, the monthly security updates will be given priority and will be downloaded and installed first before IE7 gets installed. Technicians and IT Administrators can stop the automatic download of IE7 using the IE7 Blocker Toolkit.
