Users who are using Microsoft’s MSN Messenger will be forced to upgrade to the Windows Live Messenger 8.1 if they want to continue on using the software. This applies to MSN Messenger versions 6.2, 7.0, and 7.5. It also applies to Live Messenger 8.0.

According to the report by COMPUTERWORLD, there will be a dialogue which will say, “A newer version is available. You must install the newer version in order to continue. Would you like to do this now?” when a user tries to log in.

This mandatory upgrade is required because there is a vulnerability in the older program.
