Most of us have heard about the Dell/Sony laptop batteries exploding in recent news. Recently a few people are reporting Maxtor harddrives are catching fire.
I have completely boycotted Maxtor harddrives personally, due to the amount of heat they produce.

About a year ago I had issues with frequent lockups on a system. After the usual tests for bad ram, bad power supply, OS etc.. it was still locking up. There were 3 harddrives in the system and it turns out that the middle one was a Maxtor. The Maxtor harddrive would heat up so much that it would make the other 2 overheat and cause lockups.
