Laptop Data Recovery: How to rescue data off a dead notebook.

Now to close the laptop back up. Reconnect the ribbon cable back onto electronics for the touchpad located on the top panel and make sure it is secured.

Close the top panel, redo the screws and you are done!

I have an acer 5100-5674 with windows vista home premium on it. It recently had a disk controller go out on it and I cannot locate my recovery disk. How do I get it to boot to a place where I can get to my files and back them up so that I can re-install the os. It won’t even boot to safe mode. If I go into the bios it is telling it to boot up to the x: drive. My files are still there but I am more familiar with xp than vista. can you help?
