Microsoft has launched their latest web browser Internet Explorer 8.
“Customers have made clear what they want in a Web browser — safety, speed and greater ease of use. With Internet Explorer 8, we are delivering a browser that gets people to the information they need, fast, and provides protection that no other browser can match,” said Steve Ballmer of Microsoft.
According to the article at PCMAG, the browser surpasses Mozilla Firefox in terms of browsing aids and security.

Even though I occasionally use the IE8 Beta built into my Windows 7 machine, I still don’t see any reason to switch off of Firefox. In fact, I had problems with the stable release on this same machine and had to install the 3.1 Beta which is performing very well.
Anyway, I’m rambling. I will definitely check out IE8 as it looks promising and I’m also excited about the next release of Chrome!
Thank you for the update, but I am not ready to ‘beta’ test RC1 of IE8. From the official MS site: “RC1 is short for “Release Candidate 1″. Release candidate software is ready to be evaluated by users while it undergoes final testing. You may experience minor bugs or compatibility issues with websites while browsing.”
It is reviews like this one that I have to be discerning with because many of our clients are early adopters, so for me, and stewardship of our consultancy, having our clients become beta testers for MS is not good stewardship, lets wait to see what happens with the FINAL release, and as the rest of the world catches up and accommodates the new browser before we get so excited about the ’second coming of Jesus-IE8′
Keep up the great work guys!
see what I mean…. http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=2934&tag=nl.e019
It has not yet been released as a full version, they have only release a Release Candidate verson – i.e. another test version ultimately.
@Derek and eMicros –
Read the review more thoroughly and you will notice that it says that IE8 will be available after 9am Pacific.
Still can’t even shoot for the BASICS like STANDARDS.

You folks need to read a little closer….and try be patient.
Anyway, before I down load and try this crazy thing…has anyone actually tried to UNINSTALL it after checking it out? Im sure we all remember the “glitches” with the IE7 uninstaller
Running the official/final version now, discovered that it does not like TechRepublic Website… have to check settings… maybe it is the compatibility option…
Uninstall of IE8 is useless and will not properly revert to the older version…be sure to creat a restore point before installing.
IE7pro is also should also be uninstalled BEFORE you attempt to install IE8 as it is not compatible.
