What’s it say about Microsoft when Windows 98 is still being used and they’re discontinuing support for Windows XP. It’s amazing how I was able to take this drive out from one computer (eMachines), pop it into another (Compaq), google for the one error I encountered, and fix it from the first link I found.

Anybody dealt wVista yet? Add to much RAM and get ready for a hell battle to re-activate. I didn’t reactivate once with the whole system switch using Windows 98.

Then again, I’m more of a Linux person anyway.

Just put a fresh win98 install on an old machine I use for a repair bench. The old hard drive had locked up so I had to start from scratch. I’m sure glad I found your article. Saved my butt. Can’t do updates cause it needs IE6, can’t get IE6 cause updates don’t work. Caught between Iraq and a hard place. Your article worked like a gem. –Jim

Very nice thx buddy, just one add on this. microsoft update will not work if you do not have an internet connection so all that extra writeing you did about not haveing internet and fixing lol you know. I miss that stuff to.
