I am sure that most of the technicians here have heard about “Spyware Doctor” by PC Tools at some point. If you haven’t, Spyware Doctor is a free spyware remover and provides real-time protection against spyware, adware, browser hijackers, trojan horses, key loggers etc.
From a Technicians point of view its a great tool to run on clients computers since it uses little computer resources and is effective at catching most spyware.
Anyway, we have discovered a way that you can get free legitimate Spyware Doctor licenses via one of their special promotions. Also, although I haven’t used their other products personally, you can also get free licenses for some of their other products at the same time. “Privacy Guardian” and “Firewall Plus”.
Read on for instructions on how to get your free genuine licenses. Grab them fast because I don’t know how much longer this offer will be available.
1. To begin, visit this page and click on any of the product titles that bring you to http://www.pctools.com/wbc/
You must go to the PC Tools link via the Westpac site (first link) because PC tools checks the referrer and the promotion wont show up on the PC Tools site if you don’t.
2. When you arrive at the PC Tools site you should see the three products that are on offer in this promotion, Spyware Doctor, Antivirus 6 and Firewall Plus and they will be checked by default.
Scroll down below that and you will see a signup form that will look like this:

3. PC Tools will then send a email to verify your email address with the subject “Please verify your PC Tools email address”. Open this email and click the “To activate your account please click here” link.
4. You should now be at a page called “Westpac Banking Corporation – Special Offer!” that has your free license keys and the download links.
Special thanks to Raymond for spotting this deal

Nice find. I love the programs you provide us.
Your site has been on my favorites list for months now.
Well done Mr. Whitty.

I’ve only used SpyBot Search and Destroy. How would this tool compare?
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think SpyBot is not a full AntiVirus. I believe the PC Tools program offers real time protection and scans your email.

I’m a reseller for PCTools. Spyware Doctor is one of my primary sells. Fast, lightweight, updates automatically. Also does include an AV version if you want it.
I have to disagree with the fast and lightweight comment Checkmate. It’s one of the chunkiest programs I’ve ever used and the more recent versions seems to crash during startup more often than I’d like. I’ve experienced this on several customer machines aswell, not just my own. However, once it’s loaded it is one of the best spyware removal tools out there IMO
I’ve wanted to check out this program since it got a GREAT review in PC Magazine or something like that. I just hadn’t gotten around to it.
Since I saw this, I just installed it on my wife’s laptop to make her the guinea pig. =)
@checkmate
How do you like being a reseller for them?
The only downside to being a reseller is you have to buy the software in bulks of 10. You can’t just buy individual licenses as and when you need them. But I think it costs £100 for 10 licenses which is considerably cheaper than buying it as a non-reseller.
Simmy do you use the AV version? Cause I’ve never had an issue with Spyware Doctor stand alone. As for their AV, yeah that thing crashes often.
@ Time Code, I get 5 license pack at beginning resell level is $20 a license. But honestly I like the company they are striving to move upwards in the market.
Thanks you for the info. I’m thinking to use it for my PC.
Ive used spyware doctor for years, the paid version includes real time, but that can slow you down. the other version is free, just go to http://www.download.com and search spyware doctor starter edition. It’s a nice program, very comparable to spybot and adaware. I’ve used it on 100’s of machines with no problems yet!! Ive also used the free anti virus from download.com on stubborn machines that avg, avast and the like cant fix.
Nice find, but the starter edition has always been free, just go to download.com and search spyware doctor starter edition. I’ve used the full paid version for years, but now i use the starter one. The only diff is the paid has real time, but it slows you down, so the starter is good enough. Its also avail. in the google pack.
Ive used the av when other av’s didnt get the virus, its a good app for a free one, but i still prefer avg, avast, and avira over it.
Was it spyware doctor or spy sweeper that you can’t remove without paying for?
@ Remote Computer Repair
It wasn’t PC Tools Spyware Doctor. I know, I uninstalled it twice.
@ Webkinz – I think Spyware doctor blows away Search and Destroy. Usually Spyware Doctor will pickup something I had not seen before with any other scanner.
You can use these tags:
