Quick USB C connection question...

It looks like we just went with the Dell Dock WD15 since it will also power the laptop via USB C as well...

Cheers!

Yes. A DisplayPort USB C is a mini Display Port using a USB C connector AND a Power Deliver 2.0 connector AND SuperSpeed USB 3.1

The only thing bad about the USB C spec is that it is not really easy to tell which port has which features. Not all USB C ports are Power Deliver ports or Display Ports but all DP ports are both Power and USB 3.1

And then there is Thunderbolt which complicates it further.

Pro: More speed - yea! e.g. We went to these drives for our go kits last year - they are WAY faster, we love 'em
Pro: Easier to plug in - yea!
Con: I'll need to carry around a couple of charts to know what cable spec is needed for a particular job
Con: I'll have the figure out which ones to stock
Con: None of my clients will ever understand this
Con: Every "It doesn't work" call is now is research project

The other con is that most cables I've seen have no marking on them. You have no idea once out of the package if the damn thing is rated for Power Deliver or Displayport or just a USB data cable. And now Thunderbolt 3 is also going to be called USB 4. Like that is going to clarify stuff.
