Microsoft thinking of subscription

As far as fairness goes, I think that actually makes things more fair. How many big box stores can you walk into and buy an X86 box with out Windows? Regardless of if you are only going to use windows, or nuke the thing right out of the box and install linux you are paying for windows. In my mind that gives consumers more choice, and that is a good thing.

The average computer user could care less about it. Most end users have no concept of where Windows ends and the computer begins. Only a handful of tech savy end users give a flying crap about it. Just like most buyers know little to nothing about how a car works. A subscription model on the OS will not fly simply because most end users will not see any benefit from it.
