I'm trying to help a friend out with an iMac problem. I am not an Apple person these days and only have a windows system to work with
It gets stuck booting at the logo displayed and the spinning wheel.
He worked with Apple support initially, and none of the recovery or other boot up tricks worked.
I was able to find what I think is the complete High Sierra OS for it and created a bootable USB drive using TranMac, but when I try to boot from it hold the option key and powering it up, it only shows the HDD.
Does anyone have a known a good USB boot image that will work? Or any other ideas that I can try. I have a feeling the HDD dies on him, and I can easily replace it, but I'll still need the OS for it.
Any help would be appreciated.
