Until you have a photo you actually like, why not just omit it? This would look just fine with that area omitted and the Facebook and LinkedIn logos surrounding the base of the shield. with it stretched out a bit.

When someone asks for critique, I try my best to offer a respectful one.
And if anyone is going to use a photo, and they aren't really thrilled with the one they've chosen, then my feeling is to omit it until you have one that you really like.
But all advice is taken or ignored at the sole discretion of the recipient.

No for a photo, it is not a Governmental ID so not required.
Take your logo in place of your photo, looks good - done.
