You are right!
Though, visiting client's house and repairing their computers ia a good way to make good money, it's a little risky for the person who makes this job.
Keyboard and mouce accumulate a lot of nastiness, where bacteries are, so it's very important to wash your hands, arms, etc.

Also, as you said, if you don't trust the voice you are hearing by the phone, ignore the job.

I have been in houses owned by drug addicts, renters that have garbage piled from floor to roof, people who have 20+ cats, places with huge dogs and just plain creepy people.

I got attacked by a dog again today. It was only a little furball but it was going crazy and succeeding at biting me. This job is freaking dangerous!

Ok, I had a real weirdo today. He was telling me that computers came from Aliens (I really REALLY wish I was making this up).

He asks me when did the first computers appear.

Me: "Im not really sure, It really depends on what you consider a 'computer'. I know before and during WW2 that IBM had some and outsourced them to the Nazis to keep records of a recent censis which the Nazis used to find where the jews lived" (got this information from the book "IBM and the Holocaust")

Him: "You know that extra terrestrials have crashed on earth right?"

Me: "Uh huh..."

Him: "You see, computers came from extra terrestrials, during the mid 40's a spaceship crashed into the desert in America and afterwards we had computers. The chinese copied these computers and built what we have today."

Me: "American desert? Your talking about Roswell right?"

Him: "Yes, thats it. Computer appeared not long after that"

Me: "uh huh..."


I REALLY wish I was making this up. The person seemed quite normal, easy to get along with and when I opened up the PC to install a USB expansion PCI card he started spouting off this crap.

For cleaning your hands keep a box of wipes in your car - anti bacterial if you're paranoid. Good if you have to do something dirty like change a wheel on the way to a job too.

Yeah, good idea. Expecially when you think that most home computers are used for porn at some point. Eww.
